The History of Friendship House

In 1961, Temple Baptist Church was established at our present location under the leadership of Rev. George Simpson.

But in the 1990's, the congregation began to diminish.

At that time, the Canadian Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec

took custody of the facility.

It was clear that this would not be a re-plant of a church,

it would be a mission of mercy to our disadvantaged community.

The name "Friendship House" seemed to fit the vision.

In June 1997, the doors of Friendship House were opened

to all those God sent its' way.

Over twenty-four years later, the doors are still open

and the mission has grown and developed.

Today, using donations and volunteer staff, over 100 people are fed daily.

As well, clothing, household items,  Food Bank and many other services

are provided free of charge to our marginalized community.
